Cover story previews:
I like the idea of Kaia for ID but the cover looks very Instagram-like. I don't think the effortless vibe works enough to elevate these images the way they intended. Perhaps with better styling.
Binx & Zoe did it (much) better last season.
Another youth issue! We couldn't wait for another one!
Boring as everything connected to youth that fashion magazine tried to push.
I had hopes of something glorious after seeing the thread title... I don't know, I'd rather see the unbuyable glow of youth than a morose tiredness that's freely available to individuals of every age.
couldn't she still grow up some more? looks like a sick puppy here.
I hope there are multiple covers as always
Also had hope, but only a vague degree becaus, well, it's Kaia. She's becoming increasingly dull to watch in print. Complete waste of a cover. Can't believe I'm saying this, but at least Kendall and the Hadids have been trying to do something meaningful.
I completely disagree. I found her dull at the beginning, but now I'm more than convinced. She was just born to be a model. To me she has really that special thing unlike Kendall, and I'm sure she's going to get better and better.
Snore. The bare minimum of effort was put into this
This issue comes out in the Summer? Even with that styling??
I totally agree! She is so much more captivating than Kendull.
Even if the vibe she is giving in these pictures is very ‘bored teenager’, it’s infinitely more interesting than the ‘blank blank’ vibe Kendull gives in all of her pictures.
The sad thing about Kaia is that she is an interesting girl and has a potential. She is beautiful and has a bit of charisma but her great posing make-up for the lack of character of her face. She is pretty girl who can pose and who can model but when she has to focus on her face, it looks like she is trying. The last pic is beautiful but it's quite "celebrity" posing rather than "model".
And if photographers are not willing to challenge her like Meisel do, her work will be very lackluster.
In a way, it's a pity that she started that early because i think her face will have more character at 20.
And ID is now a caricature...
Second cover with Jazzelle Zanaughtti by Daniel Jackson.

^It gets worse, and amazingly, more predictable...
At least the second cover screams actually youth culture (kudos for the Cyberdog reference, more than deserved, those guys are the face of British club culture and Camden) and a bit of a throwback to what i-D and The Face used to be. That first cover is pure "LA privilege hipster insta kid". These celeb-models nowadays wouldn't be able to look like a normal kid (like Kate Moss did in her early days) even if they actually tried. Not what I would expect from i-D.
I absolutely hate this styling. I am sick and tired of seeing it everywhere. You can do anything with Kaia and you style her like this? Where's the glamour? The fantasy? iD used to give us magic every month. Now look at it. Is it even worth calling this a fashion magazine anymore?
