I bought this magazine for the first time and dont know what to think of it. It's very typical and responds to whats happening culturally with British Youth and the graphic layout of it is interesting. But it seems like a lot of the people they feature seem to have connections to famous people or industry insiders which I actually think is quite alienating. They also mention myspace and youtube a lot which is irritating. But then I think the slangy way it's written is refreshing. I dunno to me it just seems like such an obvious format for a magazine trying to be different from other magazines (if that makes sense?!)

Yesterday I bought this mag. It's my first experience of buying i-D. And I bought is because of the Coco cover ! (somehow, I think i-D has attractive covers. I don't really like the content, because it's a bit vulgar & raunchy, and the fashion is not that much as I expected. BUT I really feel the coolness of i-D. And it did look great on the coffee table.

For me, alternative magazines such as i-D and Dazed & Confused are formulaic in their own way, just like the more mainstream titles. I used to buy i-D frequently about ten years ago, but these days, it would have to be a stunning cover to tempt me to part with my money now. In fact, I'd rather buy a book featuring all their covers, and never mind the content of the actual magazine.
