Controversial Princess Mabel of the Netherlands (who supposedly once had an affair with gangster etc etc) wore these incredible shoes at a special ballet for her and her (supposedly gay) husband, anyway: yes they are flashy, but this is the kind of flashy I like. And for a Princess this is quite daring!

Dress by V&R as well who are friends of hers and made her wedding dress.

yes I was going to say the bows on the dress remind me of v&r s/s 05 with all the bows. Anyway I agree. it's nice to see a princess dress in something non-stuffy, let alone something moderately avante-garde!

What I like about the shoes is that they seem almost like an ironic take on royal jewels or something, like a very exagerrated version of old royalty...very cute.

thanks for the topic alura...
i rather like the dress...it's cute and quirky and impressive for a royal...
but i can't say i'm fond of those shoes...i find them rather unattractive really...

and i agree with ocean...the red ruby slippers are just the best from V&R...

I rather agree with Spike. A non-conformist take on conformity. I'm not keen on the platform aspect of the shoe...but the rest of it is rather gaudily quirky,if you will. Nice to see from somebody of her stature.

Those are spectacular as well! Very Oz-like. These are over-the-top and glitzy but I think they are marvellous and seem to be inspired by the traditional Dior bows of the 50s.

They are very nice, though I would like them better without platforms.

Whatever people think about V&R, I think their translation from catwalk to store is better than for example Galliano's... Galliano looks great on the runway but when you see his clothing in the store it always disappoints me for it's quality and look. V&R's wearable pieces have the look and feel of the show without being overly extravagant.

Those shoes are so quirky and fun. :woot:

But not with the dress... it looks like an overzealous prom dress.

not too fond of the heel and the wedge altogether. prefer the glitter ones too^_^

Very costume-like; probably very difficult to pull off... but cute
