So Hugh is gay and procreated with his female wife? Is this possible? I understand gay rumours around Zachery Quinto, Ryan Seacrest and Ricky Martin, you know with the overly preened looks, no long term girlfriends etc but Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman and Will Smith are all so masculine (not saying gay men are feminine or flambouyant) so what makes people say these guys are gay? I'm genuinely asking, not being critical, my gaydar is worse than Elton John's wife's.

1. hugh jackman's children are adopted.
2. there are gay men who marry and father children.

No I don't think he's made any public statements aknowledging the fact...but then again maybe he is one of those people who was never really "in" so he doesn't feel the need to come out. I have no idea, I'd never even heard of him before Star Trek. Matt Bomer is apparantly out as well but hasn't made it public.

edit: Hugh Jackman's kids are adoped??? I was wondering why his son looked black...

I just don't understand why a gay man would marry / pretend to be in a relationship with a woman and live a sham just for the benefit of his career That doesn't make him likeable in my book.

^there could be more than just that... maybe he wants their kids to have a mother... maybe his wife is a good friend and he wants to raise his kids together, like a "normal" family... if his wife knows the truth, it´s not really a sham... maybe in time he´ll tell the kids... I don´t know, too many maybes.

i don't think the gay guy should be blamed or considered unlikable for having to go to such lengths to save his career but the hollywood politics and society in which a gay man can't be believable enough to portay an alpha male superhero guy (like Wolverine). in many parts of the world (even the oh so modern western world) gay people are still not equal or completely accepted, so i understand when people try to hide their sexuality.
at the same time it would be a good step forward when more people came out

I can totally understand how a Rock Hudson or a Richard Chamberlain didn't admit what he was, being a leading man back in a different social climate, but now it seems a shame it should still be an issue....But if it is, can you blame someone for not putting their career (and earnings) at risk? BUT, just to really complicate matters, I also see why out gays would resent others hiding it like it is a big secret...Very complicated, and very personal...I wonder if you went back through this entire thread how many of all the blind items relate to someone's sexual preferences...probably a lot...!

anyhow, it's a "known" thing Hugh's partner is his business partner - the one you see in most pics with Hugh and his wife. i don't think it's an issue for them since it seems all three are in the known and obviously in some kind of deal. i really have a feeling it's working for all three nicely.

Personally, I never thought he was gay...

I didn't mean living a sham as lying to your wife but as in hiding who you really are to the public and media (and therefore lying to them), living your real relationship in hiding and not being able to live your life to the fullest. These people must be under constant pressure and fear that the truth will be revealed, with terrible consequences for their career, family life, etc.

I know it's easy to judge and who knows what I would do if I were in their place, but it must be terrible not to be yourself 100% of the time and feel the need to constantly act a part in public instead.
As Boomer said, it really is a shame people feel the need to go to such extent to get an A-list career nowadays : you have every reason to believe you will get discriminated upon if you come out of the closet, and yet if everybody keeps hiding their true sexuality, I don't see how there will be any social progress regarding that matter
