facebook.com/bite.magazineA polaroid from Charlotte Schreiber's intimate portrait session with male model, Ibra Cisse yesterday. This season, Ibra has walked for Rick Owens, Kenzo and many more. Coming soon on BITE Blog.
http://bite-zine.com/With his stern yet enticing gaze, it might be hard to believe that the magnetic Ibra Cisse is only 18 years old. The Chechen native, now residing in Germany, is no stranger to the likes of Rick Owens and Neil Barrett. Dressed down in a pair of jumper and jeans, Ibra paired up with photographer Charlotte Schreiber in chilly Düsseldorf for an exclusive BITE blog series.
FEATURED | IBRA CISSE
What were your perceptions of fashion before and after modeling? To be honest, at first I thought it would be boring. Taking pictures, walking shows and all over again. But when I actually started modelling I was surprised by how different every shoot and show can be. You travel a lot and meet all these different creative people. Today I think that modelling is a pretty cool thing and I feel blessed to have this opportunity.
How did your parents react to both Sulumbek and yourself becoming models? My dad wasn’t too fond of the idea at first but somehow he got used to it. My mum on the other hand is very proud and supports us!
Do you think you dress better after modelling or do you think your personal style hasn’t changed? My personal style definitely changed since I started modelling. Before, I didn’t really care about my look but nowadays I actually do. I think it’s because you get to know all the designers and get to travel to all these different places; it definitely influences my style. I’m more open these days and like to try something new – before modelling I would have probably laughed at myself for what I’m wearing today.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years? I hope that I will finish university and be ready to live ‘the real life’. Wish me luck, I’ll need it!
What are some of your beauty and fitness regimen? I don’t have any actually!
What is the best thing about modelling? Probably all models will say the same: travelling to these amazing places and getting to know so many great people.
Besides attending school, what do you like to do in your free time? Any talents/activities? I started doing martial arts a few years ago and was quite successful. I broke my nose a few times but that’s the risk, I think?! Since I started modelling I only do it to stay fit and I am not doing competitions anymore.
Any memorable experiences from editorials or runways to share? Meeting Salma Hayek at the McQ show in London! She was my early love!
