she's very much an indie actrees. Only her last few films have been big. For her first film role in Songcatcher she won a prize at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for an Independant Spirit Award. Many of her other films like Passionada, Happy Now, Nola, all indies. Mystic River wasn't an indie but it was fairly low budget. She's said that after she's done with the movie she's working on now (Posidon) She wants to return to smaller films. I think she wanted to give bigger stuff a try as well, but she's said she loves the intimacy of smaller films and character driven roles.
