There are so many things that, if I were 15 in 2025, I'd probably think are great, because it would be my first exposure to the concept.

But when you're seeing a one-dimensional rendering of something that was done better, was fresher, had more meaning in the decades before, it's hard to be impressed by it. You can't really recreate the energy of when you saw it earlier.

I agree. Iconic photographs should never be recreated because they are usually a failed attempt.

Everything about Mel and friends Interview is cheap, tacky, and poorly done. The worst is the people in charge from him to fashion to content all think they are gifts to the industry like they are the new voice. It’s pathetic and insulting what they’ve done to what was once an amazing publication under other leadership. This is why NY can’t have nice things anymore. All that’s left is the lowest common denominator at every level because the talent all ran off to Europe to escape.
