It’s Official: Stefano Pilati Will Leave Yves St. Laurent

Oh God, NONONONONONONONO, I love you Raf but for YSL NO.

I love Stefano so much! So sad OMG.:(

I dread the day Pilati leaves Yves Saint Laurent, his mysterious take on the brand makes my pulse race everytime. Even if it isn't always love at first sight.

I can't imagine Simons at Yves Saint Laurent; surely if they're going to replace Pilati they should replace him with someone who can get the house's tropical sexiness more correct?
Baited breath.

I feel Pilati really gets YSL. Hopefully if Raf takes YSL, he will have a surprising and in-touch jump, like that of Christophe Lemaire from Lacoste to Hermes.

In my view, this decade will be devastating in the fashion world - The Crisis, artistic director changes all the time, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen ..... where this is going. I feel so bad.

Pilati leaving YSL is a real bummer. I love Raf and his aesthetics but Stefano is so perfect for YSL and I can't really see Raf with his minimalistic vision to really fit into my idea of YSL. It's so frustrating all those changes in fashion world.

Pilati is perfect at YSL , raf simons at YSL , would be a disaster of epic proportions think Theyskens at Nina Ricci.

I'm not against the idea of Pilati leaving, but Simons? It's such a strange suggestion.

this is so wrong...why would anyone want Pilati to leave, every collection he showed was perfect for YSL!!

The rumours that Raf Simons was to replace Stefano Pilati at YSL have been quashed by the Jil Sander camp.

ELLE have spoken to the PR team at Jil Sander who confirmed that Raf Simons is to stay at Sander, and that he has just signed up for another four years as Creative Director of the label. A press release detailing this news is imminent.

Earlier YSL representatives rubbished the claim but stopped short of giving an official statement.

oh no. this would be so sad. It'd be somehow interesting to see what Raf would do at YSL (although i doubt it'll work in the womenswear) but i ADORE Stefano's work and i really do not want him to leave.

OMG - Look this

The first to say so was Suzy Mendes, the Fashion Editor of the International Herald Tribune. According to the journalist, it’s to be Raf Simons who will take the place of Stefano Pilati as the creative director of Yves Saint Laurent.

PPR, the group which owes Maison Saint Laurent, has not commented on whether the Belgian designer said backstage at the Jil Sander show that this was to be his last couture collection for the German brand.

While we’re waiting for a press release to confirm or deny the rumour, there’s another question to answer – if Simons is to take Pilati’s place at the head of Yves Saint Laurent, where is the Italian designer going? To Vuitton to replace Marc Jacobs?

This is INSANEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Updated Monday September 26, 1.29pm:

Yves Saint Laurent has officially dismissed rumours Raf Simons will replace Stefano Pilati as creative director.

"Yves Saint Laurent disclaims and regards as unfounded the current rumors concerning the creative direction of the house. Stefano Pilati continues to dedicate his talent and energies to Yves Saint Laurent and the coming fashion show," a statement from the fashion house read.

Good to hear. I feel almost guilty for entertaining the rumours. I think both designers are good for their respective houses and I am glad to hear there's no changes on the horizon.

great! raf simons would've been the absolute worst choice for ysl. if anyone, i would love to see vanessa seward take over...her azzaro was to die for and she had already worked on the team with tom ford during his years at ysl.

I know someone who's gonna get crashed by Ms. Menkes.
I mean, it's her fault too, how can a so famous and serious editor spread such FALSE rumors?

Also, the thought that Pilati (from PPR) would go replace MJ at Louis Vuitton (LVMH) is totally insane. Pinault would never let him go, especially to his direct concurrent Arnault!

^ I don't get it either. We are talking about Suzy here. SUZY. Why would she report this unless it was solid. Her source is going to get it.

PS Yay Stefano is staying.

Once again, another sigh of relief but another bout of disappointment - I'm getting quite irritated by these all-too-numerous false rumours and wasted excitement.
