elleuk.comThe rumours that Raf Simons was to replace Stefano Pilati at YSL have been quashed by the Jil Sander camp.
ELLE have spoken to the PR team at Jil Sander who confirmed that Raf Simons is to stay at Sander, and that he has just signed up for another four years as Creative Director of the label. A press release detailing this news is imminent.
Earlier YSL representatives rubbished the claim but stopped short of giving an official statement.
The first to say so was Suzy Mendes, the Fashion Editor of the International Herald Tribune. According to the journalist, it’s to be Raf Simons who will take the place of Stefano Pilati as the creative director of Yves Saint Laurent.
PPR, the group which owes Maison Saint Laurent, has not commented on whether the Belgian designer said backstage at the Jil Sander show that this was to be his last couture collection for the German brand.
While we’re waiting for a press release to confirm or deny the rumour, there’s another question to answer – if Simons is to take Pilati’s place at the head of Yves Saint Laurent, where is the Italian designer going? To Vuitton to replace Marc Jacobs?
