Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner: Engaged!

ivanka-trump-jared-kushner-engaged.jpg

Ivanka Trump got engaged to her longtime love Jared Kushner last night (July 15).
Ivanka, 27, is the Vice President of Real Estate Development and Acquisitions at the Trump Organization. She tweeted earlier today, “I got engaged last night…truly the happiest day of my life.” Jared, 28, is the owner of The New York Observer.
Donald Trump tells Us Weekly, “I’m very happy about it. They make a magnificent couple.”
Congrats to the happy couple!

I hope we get to see the ring soon...and I hope it's a good one!

^ Well...no surprise I suppose... Good luck, I guess, although a girl from Penn marrying a Harvard guy.... And it's OK- she can marry him, I'm still holding out for her ex-step mother!

From her twitter account:

I got engaged last night...truly the happiest day of my life!!!

It's not just a banner day for television's talented elite—even those who earned their small-screen time through more nepotistic means have boarded the good news bandwagon.
Like daddy's girl extraordinaire Ivanka Trump, who was all a-Twitter this morning over news of her engagement to her on-again, off-again publishing beau, Jared Kushner.
"I got engaged last night...truly the happiest day of my life!!!" she wrote.
Ah, to be rich and famous.
Of course, such a momentous occasion would never go by without comment from the Donald himself. Brace yourselves for some over-the-top effusion...
"I'm very happy about it," Trump told Us Weekly. "They make a magnificent couple."
What the? Someone oughta let him know it's not the father of the bride who's supposed to get cold feet.
No date—or religious affiliation—has yet been set for the wedding, but rest assured, it will be 'uuuge.

A young New York power couple is taking it up a notch — to the altar.

New York Observer owner Jared Kushner proposed on Wednesday night to real estate scion Ivanka Trump with a 5.22 cushion cut from Trump’s signature jewelry line.

Trump recently completed the conversion process to Judaism and will marry Kushner under Jewish doctrine.

Kushner surprised Trump with the platinum and diamond mounting with her colleagues at Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry. The proprietary cushion cut is aptly named for her.

^ Well, it would be nice someday if someone in the Trump Universe gave an engagement ring without a back room deal being made to promote something and/or save money...Donald Sr did it twice and Donald Jr proposed in a New Jersey mall in front of a TV news crew (called in for the occasion) to get a deal from the jewelry store involved...What a class crowd...

I want to see this ring....

OK, it depends how you look at it...This is the Ivanka model (with the wedding band) they metioned but it is a step cut-

And this is the cushion cut, but not the Ivanka model...

I think it is the second due to the size, but we'll see soon I suppose...^_^

He comes from money, but his family's ethics are just as "questionable" as the Trumps.

His father got jailed for hiring a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, filming the encounter, and then using the tape as blackmail. That added to counts of tax evasion and illegal campaign donations.

Those monied families sure are class acts.

^ We Penn People do not abide such creatures....! (All Ivy League people disregard the other Ivy League schools...It is a tradition...) :innocent:

Thanks for the pics Boomer! The ring is........interesting....I would have liked to see her in a more classic model.

^ I would have liked to have seen him go somewhere else and not broadcast that it is one of the rings from his future bride's jewelry collection...(and of course he surely paid full retail for it...) :(

For those of you wondering what took so long for Donald Trump lite Jared Kushner to pop the question to Ivanka Trump—and come on, there's gotta be one or two of you out there, right? Ivana?—we've finally found our answer.
Turns out, secularity is not a kosher characteristic for a wannabe bride.
The Trumpette herself revealed to New York Magazine that the reason why she dated the New York Observer-owning Kushner for two years without any diamonds being exchanged or hands being taken was more the result of Moses' law than Murphy's.
The newly betrothed 28-year-old only completed her long-pending conversion to Judaism last week and the self-described homebody couple could not officially be engaged until her religious switch was dunzo.
Far be it from us to assume his Orthodox Jewish family's reported reticence to accept the preconverted Trump would have anything to do with their reservations at making the social rounds, but no matter: While their courtship didn't include any couch-bound Apprentice marathons (as far as we know), it was about as far removed from glitz and glam as any endeavor bearing the Trump name could ever hope to be…
"We're very mellow. We go to the park. We go biking together. We go to the 2nd Avenue Deli," she said. "We both live in this fancy world. But on a personal level, I don't think I could be with somebody—I know he couldn't be with somebody—who needed to be 'on' all the time.
"I don't think we've ever been to a nightclub together in two years. I'm really thankful for that."
And unlike her mommy and daddy dearest, Ivanka said she wouldn't be following in her parents' footsteps by going into business with her hubby-to-be.
"Neither of us would naturally assume a secondary-type role."
A daddy's girl through and through, then.
Come to think of it, add a couple more real estate megadeals, an internationally mocked comb-over and an ever-loosening grasp of long-term monogamy to Kushner and…nevermind.
Mazel tovs all around.

Since getting engaged, Ivanka Trump has begun to open up about new fiance Jared Kushner, who owns the New York Observer. And the first thing she's addressing is why it took the two of them so long to get engaged. As it turns out, Kushner couldn't pop the question until Ivanka had officially converted to Judaism for him, a process she just recently completed.

Speaking to New York magazine, Ivanka revealed, "I've allowed him to see who I truly am and he still loves me. I don't feel like I have any defensive walls built up around me." She added, "He's a bit of a hero of mine. His ability to remain focused - he lacks an anxiety that's natural for someone his age handed so much responsibility."

As for how she and Kushner maintain a private life...they don't do very much. Said Ivanka, "It's very rare we're featured [in the press] out at some fancy restaurant on a date. We're very mellow. We go to the park. We go biking together. We go to the 2nd Avenue Deli. We both live in this fancy world. But on a personal level, I don't think I could be with somebody - I know he couldn't be with somebody - who needed to be 'on' all the time."

And these two super ambitious youngsters have learned how to make time for each other. Said Trump, "I've learned how to cook. Once a week, we have a night in and I cook for just the two of us. We turn everything off and spend time together and talk about what we're working on."

What? There are about 100 different photos in her style thread of these two at parties, openings etc. Does she not know that they're getting their picture taken? I find that part of the article funny.

^ I think its quite rare to see pictures of them together at all. Especially considering how many events she attends for work/social purposes.

^ Yeah, I have to agree- they pose together much less than most couples, often Jared is off on the side when Ivanka poses. Even their buddy Patrick McMullan seems to usually just catch them walking in together or coming out of the Waverly Inn, not really posing for pictures...And I have seen one (1) picture of the two of them with Donald- which I find very strange since he is usually there at the events with them...and I'm not sure I've ever seen one of them with Don Jr, Vanessa, Melania or Eric...All very unTrumplike...Funny, huh? Must mean something...

The always charming CityFile.com seems to share my thoughts... ;)

Jared Kushner learns quick. And he's going to blend into the Trump family just fine. WWD reports today that the engagement ring he gave Ivanka was from Ivanka's own collection, a 5.22 cushion cut diamond that's "proprietary" to Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry™. Ivanka will now serve as a living, breathing ad for her engagement ring line (as well as benefit from the press attention that follows). And Jared—hopefully!—managed to knock a few bucks off the price thanks to this most personal connection. Most importantly:
He's making his future father-in-law and brother-in-law very proud.
When the Donald asked Melania to marry him, he turned it into a PR gold mine for the jeweler Graff, exchanging an appearance on The Apprentice for a ring worth $1.5 million. Don Jr.'s proposal to Vanessa Haydon took place at the Short Hills Mall in New Jersey. It was well worth the trip: Bending down on one knee in front of the Bailey Banks & Biddle jewelry store scored him a $100,000 rock free of charge.
We had some doubts a while back that Jared and Ivanka would be able to overcome their seemingly insurmountable differences and make this relationship last. But now we're convinced. This is one for the ages! Mazel tov!
