Jacket Vs Coat

okay, i have a problem here.. i just started my first job, and with that comes my first pay cheque! I live in Canada and it is starting to get cold now... soo... i need a jacket or a coat to keep me warm!
the thing is, should i get one of those short jackets with the huge furry hood (eskimo-like).. i used to reallly want one.. but then it seems like EVERYONE has one of those already
OR
should i get a nice long fitted wool coat... but the thing is, i already have 3 (white, black, grey) of those.... i was thinking of getting a pink one.. or i dunno, maybe one with fur or a belt..

so which one would YOU get?

Another question, i live in vancouver, canada... so do u have any good suggestions as to where i can find the perfect jacket/coat? I have a very small frame.. so i definitely need petite size or an extra small...
AND i am planning to spend from $100~$300 canadian

I live in Canada too, and About 4 years ago I bought myself one of the those white padded(duck down) jackets with the furry detachable hood. That was 4 years ago, it stills great and is still in style. I would sugget you get one of these. It is Incredably warm. Make sure the one you get has the elastics inside the arms, and around the bottom, so that no cold air seeps in. The one I bought was about $250.00 And it was so worth it.

Hey there! I'm also from Canada...Quebec actually and its cold as hell here. I was actually thinking of getting al jacket like the one you mentioned. Short white with huge detachable hood.... I'd def. pick that up over a coat. I guess it depends on your social life as well. Besides, you already have 3 wool coats!

I don't know if you guys have this store in Vancouver but there is a store called NEXT here that has the jacket on sale for 140.00

Which would you pick in terms of warmth? Can wool/cashmere coats possibly be warmer than down jackets?!

Good luck - ps if you want complete warmth go for real fur as it is much warmer and not that much more expensive.
