JACKIE KENNEDY'S jewels are to be auctioned as part of Bonham's Pioneers of Popular Culture sale.
A three-strand simulated pearl necklace, formally owned by the famously fashionable First Lady in the early Sixties, will be sold to the highest bidder on August 15, and is expected to fetch between £25,000 and £35,000.
The sale celebrates all that is cool and iconic from the period between 1940 - 1960, and lots include Abbey Road Studios' upright piano, played by The Beatles and Pink Floyd, an original Westminster Carnaby Street road sign and several items from British actor Stewart Granger's estate.
The sale will be held at the inaugural Goodwood Vintage Festival, the brainchild of fashion designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemmingway in conjunction with Lord March. The three-day summer event unites fashion and music, and is dedicated to all that is best about British popular culture. The festival will feature a Fortnum & Mason tea shop and a collectibles market, where savvy shoppers can buy vintage pieces from YSL, Givenchy and Pucci.
