Having started his career at Dutch magazine in Paris, where he worked from 1998-2000, he went on to hold Editing positions at Arena Homme +, The Face and Pop magazines. After freelancing for several years, Surman is currently the Senior Fashion Editor at i-D. He contributes to V, Fantastic Man, 10 and Dazed & Confused magazines.

The styling in those last pics looks wonderfully tuned with the backdrop without looking contrived or cheesy. He and Leblon form a really nice team.

he's really good...
why most of the models are sitting???
i don't know if this is right (and well said... my voc. in english is going down day after day...) but i like how he makes the outfits got different volumes and shapes...
he manages to give the outfits and looks a very good grpahism...

^this last one is absolutely goooood...
god knows it's soo hard to style black outfits...
he manages to keep the "aura" of each outfit...
it's very good, imo...

he actually does work a lot with black...
that's goood...
but i barely see a pant...
most skirts or dress or coats...
