I've been in a joplin mood as fall approaches: high heeled boots, scarves, big jewelry, a little victorian, but always with a rocker edge. Post pics!B)

:woot: She has so much presence and energy captivated in her photos. Do post more, I love learning past icons.

I adore her for her style and her music...

My favourite song of hers is Move over I think :flower:

I love her style!!!:woot:
So damn cool. It's a real shame she died so young, such a waste of talent, her lyrics are truly mind blowing

How old was she when she died? How did it happen?

I think it was drugs. Correct me if I am wrong guys.
Also anyone know the story of her hitting Jim Morrison over the head with a bottle or something? I only heard it in brief so would love the whole story

^I'd love to hear about that to.

How can it be possible this thread has only one page?

This is from Wikipedia:

"Shortly thereafter, during the fall 1970 recording sessions for the Pearl album with Doors and Phil Ochs producer Paul A. Rothchild, Joplin died of an overdose of unusually pure heroin and alcohol, after being off of drugs (clean) for a period of time, on October 4, 1970 at the Landmark Motor Hotel located at 7047 Franklin Ave, room #105 in Hollywood, California, aged only 27. The last recordings she completed were "Mercedes-Benz" and a birthday greeting for John Lennon on October 1; Lennon later told Dick Cavett that her taped greeting arrived at his New York home after her death.
She was cremated in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Westwood, California, and her ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean."

And about the Jim Morrison incident:
(from: thisistravel.com)

"Alternatively, try a place with as much history, but no door policy - Barney's Beanery on Santa Monica Boulevard at La Cienega, which runs south of and parallel to Sunset. Legend has it that Janis Joplin hit Jim Morrison with a Southern Comfort bottle here, and it's still a hang-out for musicians, actors and bikers."

That's all I found.

She was damned smart as well as incredibly talented, but what strikes me the most was her perfect timing, setting, place, etecetera. Sadly, I don't feel she would make it now, because the industry is so damned plastic. Really, could you see her signing her soul over to Simon Cowell or whomever the devils are at American Idol, Inc. ? Could she even get her foot in the door? Credit Bill Graham for all of the music that came out of San Francisco at that time. The music industry was a smaller, more loveable, evil behemoth in those days, in that at least it had a face. God help anyone who signs on these days.

Fave Janis Song: "Maybe" from "I Got Them Old Kozmic Blues Again, Mama".

Do you know if they are alredy making a biopic,i read Rene Zelweeger is set to play her?Is that true?
