I don't want to be negativ about all this but it seems to me,very unpropriate to propose a Couture collection, when you know that almost 50 people have been fired from the so called "very kind" designer Jean Paul Gaultier....

The company JPG is in very bad financial position and to propose again a Couture collection means that he only do this to sell more perfume bottles.

So feathers and leather don't impress me anymore.

i think that´s a very selfless thought form you!! ^_^, cool to have read it!

but although we all now that couture is used more as a publicity vehicle rather than to make profits this days (about 250 clients left...), god! i don´t wan´t to think couturiers make this huge effort just because of that, to me thats to forced, i think you have to love what you do in order to impress and cause a good reaction on someone else, i mean, lvmh surely lets galliano make what he does to sell millions and recover the investment, but when galliano or gaultier or all of this designers are creating and don´t think they are calculating how many bottles of perfume each dress will mean, because people will totally get that, mcdonald didn´t have much fun at givenchy and we all know wha that meant for him and his fashions.

I have to disagree with you. I mean, just because he's not plesent to work for or let a portion of his workers go that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to continue doing his couture. Perhaps he fired all of those people because of his financial concerns, I would personally rather let people on my staff go then scale back and not present couture, so it wouldn't surprise me if Gaultier did the same.

Gaultier owns just a part of his company and i'm sure he doesnt make money decisions himself..

ask Hermes ;)

I really like it - very lovely, especially the green dress on Lily

I like the hair alot

The green dress is very nice.

Overall though i think the theme is really 'done' especially at the moment.

Well, it's up at Style.com, and as guessed by you guys, it was inspired by Eastern Europe (Russia specifically)

It was quite beautiful, there's no denying that, but it still felt so old. Sure, it was a different take on the gypsy look, and wonderfully done at that. But considering that fashion is just now getting over the boho-deluxe trend, it felt oddly behind the times. I'm sorry to say that I'm a bit disappointed by it. Still, there were quite a few beautiful pieces.....and the hair was awesome.

My favorites...

Love this dress, but Lily Cole is exceptionally ugly...Is she sleeping with someone who matters?
The only suit in the whole collection, Im disappointed...
Each piece is named, perhaps after Russian folklore characters?

i wonder how is it possible to confuse gypsy with peasant, with bohemian and with Russian/eastern european folk..
those are totally different stylistic themes guys ;)

Yves Saint Laurent named Jean Paul Gaultier as his French ' dauphin ' in Paris B) Couture ' when he retired fom the Couture .

He has certainly proven that prediction to be correct .

Jean Paul Gaultier Homme did a showroom presentation along with people like Veronique Branquinho etc .

Does anyone have any pics , please ?

I think that is Hannelore Knuts in the black dress, is she stuffing her hands into big pockets?

Long Live Couture!

absolutely amazing collection....one of the best too. full of romance!!

Dior, Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier are the people who keep couture alive!

Actually, historically, Gypsies hail from Eastern Europe....even though the term has come to mean something different and not specific to one culture.

yes but gypsies are what they are, folk is like folklore (local ethink) so i really can't see how it can be so mixed up as a look

babooskas have nothing in common with gypsies to try and make this more graphic

Strange how many seem to dislike this, it's my favourite hc collection so far and I haven't even seen all the pictures. It feels folkloric to me esp the gowns, brings to mind the firebird illustrations by Ivan Bilibin, Palekh or Edmund Dulac and even a little Kay Nielsen, which maybe explains why I find it so appealing.

I've only a vague idea of the distinctions between these looks but I'm very interested if you could explain them better to me? :flower:
