i, like basically everyone i know, adore j brand. i rocked my 910 ankles daily last year, and they still get a lot of wear. however, I'm 5'2, around 100 pounds, and don't wear heels.

but now have a major problem.

i am obsessed with the lovestory. so many washes! so 70s jane birkin cool! my height, though, is problematic, to say the least. i imagine that if i get them hemmed, they'll go from perfect bellbottoms to boring old bootcuts with incorrect proportions.

i know paige, joes, and a bunch of other brands make petite versions, but only bootcut, nothing with those perfect 22" bells.

what to do?

wait...someone will do it eventually...:p

yes. I actually highly suggest Gap or Old Navy. Gap already has a great wide legged jean (not sure if you want bellbottoms or widelegged) and the great thing about these brands is they come in multiple inseams. I think Old Navy's petite inseam is actually 29 inches which is practically unheard of (or seems like it) and to be honest, they are pretty quick with getting styles out there. I know I always seems to be bigging them up, but they are such a great find, for me, being short. If you want designer denim, then you'll either have to find something that will work cropped or wait for them to produce them with shorter inseams.

i am sick of having jeans hemmed. for one thing, it costs 15-20$ each time...i have also heard that hemming jeans can throw off the proportion and the jeans wont flatter my butt if i have them hemmed...

is this true? :o

i have also gone to the gap for the ankle length pants...however i find i am not so gung ho about their jeans...i just dont like them enough...

you might want to check out banana republic as well...

Topshop has a big selection of Petite jeans in all styles, I do not know if they sell them on the internet but the stores for what I can see are full of them, I guess you will have Topshop in there soon isn't it, so you should check it out.

I do think that hemmed jeans lose their balance, but maybe that's a myth.

yeah I would also suggest topshop or asos

i took everyone's advice and looked at chain store web sites and i hit the jackpot! thanks so much!

they're banana republic, called "petite classic medium-wash wide-leg jean" (so not quite love story bell bottoms, but still not bad) come in a 00 and they're ON SALE!

i can't wait until their new jeans come out. all their petites, really! there are some really cute dresses and tops, too.

now i have to decide what flats to wear with them!

avedon - congrats! but the pic isn't working for me?!

I got a pair of Levi Capital E jeans yesterday which are widelegged (and the shape is the same from the thigh down) but they have like a 36" inseam so I need to have them tailored. Not a big deal though since the shape of the leg is the same

i'm around 5'3" with big hips, and i hate how wide-legged jeans look on me! i'm on a desperate search for relaxed denim, like the baggy-ish messy kind? but the pairs are always way too long. any ideas on where i could find a pair like this? (without having to resort to customizing myself, which i'll probably have to do sooner or later!)
