Maybe it's to appeal to the Asian and multicultural market?
Montana is very traditional David Jones.
Who knows? Maybe they did request Montana and her agency said no.

That's precisely why they probably chose her. China being the second biggest economy in the world and Japan the third. These companies have to think big.

I guess the older customers can't publicly say "we don't want a non-Caucasian ambassador". So, even if they lose racist older customers, the gain from newer customers outweighs the loss.
