Looking great at Givenchy.

Even with all these new waves of models that appear it's so wonderful that she always manages to get a blue chip campaign every season. Women of color have a much harder time establishing long-term careers in high fashion so I'm glad that girls Joan and Fei Fei are still getting work rather than being discarded after a season or two (which is the case with model POC models, unfortunately).

For this story, we were intrigued by the notion of the eternalness of tattoos in an industry known for constant change. Fashion is a cyclical, season-based business, yet tattoos have never veered too far from the front of the camera. Most of the girls we shot for this story have them somewhere on their body:

Joan Smalls has her mom’s signature on the left side of her ribs, “close to my heart.”
