so THIS GIRL IS IT.

just saw her in the Models Casting clip for this year's VSFS (which means that she's at least trying to get cast in the show) and she really stood out to me. absolutely stunningly beautiful! just went through all the pages in her thread and i think that she's gonna have a big year next year.

when you think about it - it's pretty remarkable that there are so many Top Models who are black; Jourdan, Chanel, Sessilee, Arlenis. (*i mean, that's only four. so, as a number it's actually tragic. but it's better than it has been*).

i think there's certainly room for Joan. i think she's got the versatility and the classic features combo that gives her the potential to make a huge mark.

IF she gets cast in this year's VSFS - it'll do wonders for her career!

There are a few more names to add to that top model list. One model who is also walking for VSFS has had a killer season! Lyndsey Scott, this girl has walked for Vera Wang, Gucci, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, & Prada just to name a few. She has really developed into something of a rising star and I see much success in her future. Also, Shena Moulton, at only 15 yrs old she has already walked major shows like CK, Anne Valerie Hash, & Louis Vuitton. Jeneil Williams can be considered ~unique~ because of her muscular tone but the girl is gorgeous and has booked major shows like Vivienne Westwood, Loewe, & Louis Vuitton. And you can't forget about my girls R'el, Rose Cordero, Kinee Diouf, Georgie Baddiel, & Gay Mcdonald--who is extremely underatted but she managed to book Vikor & Rolf, I'm sure switching from Next to IMG help a little. A new face that popped up during PFW was Kelly Moreira, she already book Lanvin, Dries Van Noten, Kenzo, & YSL. Looking forward to seeing alot more from her soon! But we're not totally where we need to be as far as equal opportunity. Just pointing some of the positive changes that has happened this season.

i have no idea half the names of those girls. but i wish them all the success they can get. for as many replaceable and uniformed European white-girls they send down the runways, there are at least as many capable and stunning black girls that should have a chance. i'm definitely gonna look up Lyndsey Scott.

^ Well first I want to thank you for the lovely complement. As far as Joan Smalls, personally, I think she's tremendously underrated. She has all the makings of a great supermodel, yet she still hasn't quite reached that status. I'm hoping she can be able to find more work doing the show, but I'm scared that the show might limit her even more. I guess we'll have to see how it all works out for her. Hoping for the best outcomes!
