John Galliano - Designer, Creative Director of Maison Margiela

Not to contribute to the madness but I thought it was settled he’s going to Loewe? Was I dreaming?

At this point everything was being said about everyone and everywhere  I only read that LVMH approached Galliano due to Wintour’s influence on Arnault.

This is the kind of news that makes me go "okay... so what now?". Besides the last show, his vision at Margiela was so fractured but when it made sense it was just so dense and maudlin.

If he goes to Loewe, that'd be interesting for a season or two. After that I'd wonder where else it can go. Frankly, I'm just whelmed by all this. Utterly whelmed.

My guess, after all these years of fall and rising from
Nobody in Margiela HQ knows where JG is going…. I am intrigued and SEATED

The logic says he will get back his own brand.

The next step after Margiela should be either a house with haute couture DNA (but going back to Dior would be really weird, it won't happen) or regaining the house of John Galliano.

Being deprived of your own name must be one of the most humiliating things that can happen to an artist, if it wasn't your own decision.

That is why his letter of goodbye to Margiela was so joyous.

Irony of destiny: he was the designer appointed by Arnault when Givenchy was forced out of his own house.

There's one brand where I think John Galliano would be great fit, but it's not LVMH: He should go to Etro. All that paisley; the house color scheme of magenta, orange, and chartreuse; the blend of Anglophilia and orientalism — it's perfect for him. And he would naturally raise house's profile in a way it sorely needs.
