The professional French Journal du Textile published a new list of most creative designers and brands. Below there is a professional rating of the brand up to this season:

1. Jean-Paul GAULTIER
2. John GALLIANO

4. Alexander McQUEEN
5. DOLCE & GABBANA
6. COMME DES GARCONS
7. Martin MARGIELA
8. Dries VAN NOTEN
9. Ann DEMEULEMEESTER
10. Marc JACOBS

First three places are still the same. There are still Comme des Garcons, Martin Margiela and Dries Van Noten in the first part of the list. And here is the second part of the list:

11. VIKTOR&ROLF
12. Junya WATANABE

big international buyers
so then they are saying that more Alexander Mcqueen is selling than D&G and more Watanabe than Chanel? :o

these are the indie multi-designer boutique buyers,
most 'big names' have their own shops so they dont sell much
through multi-designer shops

Is this really based on sales? Rick Owens? I would have never imagined he was selling more than some of his peers who are not even mentioned.

If you read the UK fashion press , SCOTT :flower: , Rick Owens is the ' happening ' name , at least as far as menswear is concerned . :P

Browns and Harvey Nicks etc etc , sell out within hours of the latest collection hitting the shops . :o

It's that LA thing , I think !!!

KIT :innocent:

Twice in a year the professional French Journal du Textile interrogate the buyers of the most known and "advanced" boutiques in the world to reveal a score of most creative designers and brands. At the beginning of the year 70 buyers from such shops as Galassia in Rome, L'Eclaireur and Onward in Paris, Too-Much Createurs in Geneva, SN3 in Antwerp, Kokon to Zai in London, and also Le Form in Moscow have taken part in this interrogation.

I also remember that I read (in the middle of 90s) a special fashion edition of a UK newspaper (can't remember the name) at fashion week time and they also listed creative designers there. JPG, CdG, Yamamoto, John Galiano and Chanel were there too, I think :-)

Hmmmm...does this include all their bridge collections too? If not, quite a contradiction to that article I posted.

I don't get the craze over Owens myself seeing that style already solidfied and made famous by Ann Demeulemeester.

SN3?!?! That store is anything but fashion-forward. Are they kidding me?

I don't know, Scott, I personally like Rick Owen's clothes... but maybe it's because it's reminiscent of Ann  ? Hmm, I shall ponder this question...

I'm looking for the Journal du textile's recent scores: anyone knows where I could find them?
