 it must be the week of the unlikely fashion news

weird but true :

JUICY’S FUR DRIVE: Juicy Couture may go down in the fashion annals for getting Hollywood stars into velour and terry track suits. So what deserves a legend most? Fur, of course, according to co-founder Gela Taylor, who let it slip at a Los Angeles party Wednesday night that she and partner Pamela Skaist-Levy were off to New York today to meet with Gilles Mendel, the designer of luxe fur brand J. Mendel, to “convince him to work with Juicy.” He did it with another casually sporty-brand, LeSportsac. And Juicy, a division of Liz Claiborne Inc., is seeing its estimated $60 million empire burgeoning with recent additions of accessories and swim, its first licensee, for fall. But apparently, Mendel would like to hash the idea out further, said Taylor, as she stroked a white fox wrap thrown over her shoulders. “He’s not convinced yet, but he did invite us to come by, talk — and roll around in the furs!”

 Can't get muxh nastier than a cheaply made terry-cloth track-suit with fur cuffs

i know everyone here remembers about three years ago when every little young girl in new york was wearing sweaters, coats, sweater-coats, jean jackets, and every other type of outerwear embellished with fake fur...i am quite sure if juicy tapped into that market, they'd soar to another level of success...

Will they make tracksuits out of fur? Or just embellishments? Or hopefully not at all?.............

God, Juicy sucks (except for the little SATC tube dreses). Hate all of it.

perhaps they are sensing their demise...
not sure of their demise.. here comes the first ever Juicy signature shop

VIVA LAS JUICIES: It appears Juicy Couture founders Gela Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy will be realizing one more dream under their expanding empire: a signature store. The first Juicy Couture boutique will be opening in the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, no less. While details on the retail venture are still pending, the company, a division of Liz Claiborne Inc., confirmed the news late Tuesday. “This is not necessarily a flagship,” Skaist-Levy said in a telephone interview. “We don’t know where our flagship will ultimately be. But this is an entree into retail and just the tip of the Juicy iceberg.” The store is set to open in November and will hold the full world of the Los Angeles-based line — from its staple track suits to the new licensed swimwear, as well as casual and luxury product customized for Sin City. “We will definitely do things P&G [Pam and Gela, a shorthand for the founders that appears throughout their products] love. We’re going to do real jewelry. It’s going to just be a fun Juicy world,” Skaist-Levy said.
