hmmm they might be just the people to alter my two jackets. Anyway, i'm going to brick lane on my lunch break to check out coats at Rokit. If i get a chance, i might pop in and see them

looks like they got some good press...
but i can't say i like what i see on the site very much...

thanks for the link urban...:flower:

I love going into their shop! It's very funky stuff........great if you wanna really update your vintage clothes.

Oh yeah! They're from Spain originally,no? I think I remember seeing a piece on them on Fashion File a few months ago. These guys are perfect antidote(and keeping the concept of re-working viable and interesting) to the whole re-working without actually doing much at all affect yet still charging massive amounts of money--they do alot of stuff to the clothes they collect from vintage shops...changing certain shapes and embellishing & embroidering the hell out of everything. If they didn't tell you it was vintage I probably would have thought it was their own silhouettes.

scott i don't completely understand what you are saying....are you saying they are the opposite of people who charge lots of money without doing much?

I like Rokit....well, it depends which one. The ones on BrickLane are MUCH better than the one in covent garden for example...anyway, had a horrendous lunch and didn't end up going (ended up in london underground hell in Shadwell/whitechapel - don't ask) but maybe next week. Do they also just sell vintage pieces susie?

^Nope....just customised stuff. It's more like a tailor/bespoke showroom rather than actual shop.
Very good decor too!

hmm. the site was sorta interesting until they put a picture of gwen stefani in a top from her own l.a.m.b line and said it was theirs....or that's what i assume the idea of the 'press' page was...to show who has given them press/who has worn their items....

darn, i took too long editing my post..
i wanted to add on...

the l.a.m.b version of this shirt is slightly different (no pockets, and it has the 'story of lamb' printed lining, and it was reversible and came in black, white, and a green plaid....for the spring 04 collection)
and while i wouldn't be surprised if gwen had ripped them off ... just took the design, changed it slightly, and figured no one would notice, lol...you'd think the deisgner would know when someone is wearing THEIR piece, as opposed to a piece that was ripped off for the wearers own fashion line.....

Meg,you know what I'm thinking of the wrong label. Trash Couture is the duo from Spain I'm talking about. But yes, that's what I meant. Eh...so much going through my brain right now

Thanks for starting the thread, Urban Stylin. The Junky girls are very cool, and I really like their philosophy. Meg, did you take your jackets there after all? Imo that's really what they're best at - reworking tailored garments. My husband had them customize a suit for him, the results were very nice. I don't think they do quite as well with more feminine pieces though; their aesthetic is kind of hard-edged.
