Junya Watanabe S/S 11 Paris

the mask and the colored hair is really distracting. i barely pay any attention to the clothes. all i can say is color on top and black and white as their clothes... :D

i'm a bit disappointed. fun, lightweight, and quirky, but not as challenging or interesting as junya's earlier work.

also made me think of cdg a/w 86 (but a little diluted):

I think there are so many great elements here, that I'd never think it's uninteresting.. The wide range of textures and layers of transparency are dawnting, almost hypnotising and so elegant and summery. The stripes are used the right way, where they stop being a print, and begin to play with the shape in a lead role. The sailor suits are almost too literal, but the exagerated volume takes it to a another place. There's a pattern-base intervention that's always a win-win situation, but when paired with the soft, almost vintage sailor print gives it a delightful deph.
