Oh, so, apparently, she also goes by the name "Moni Dutta":

MONI Dutta is India's answer to Gemma Ward.
Dutta's modelling career has skyrocketed since she graced the cover of the launch issue of Vogue India along with five other supermodels, including the Australian Ms Ward.

“When Vogue called me I couldn't believe it, it's every girl's dream to be on the cover, and there I was with five of the most beautiful girls in the world,” Ms Dutta said.

The Indian beauty has jetted into Australia as a special guest model of Australian Fashion Week, following her recent signing to IMG Models, part of the company that owns AFW.

Daria Werbowy, Shalom Harlow, Gisele Bundchen and Ms Ward are among the models represented by IMG, the largest modelling agency in the world, and Ms Dutta is hoping for similar success _ starting in Australia.

“Being signed by IMG is like when you dream of something and you wait for years and years and then suddenly it's in your hands,” Ms Dutta said. “I'm so excited but very stressed because it's my first show in Australia and I have to give 100 per cent.”
The 22-year-old was discovered by IMG's women's development department head David Cunningham in India as part of a concerted campaign to add racial diversity to the company's roster of models.

“Moni is so exotically beautiful, she's representing the new, more internationally reflective face of fashion,” said Simon Lock, founder of AFW and head of IMG models and fashion Asia Pacific.

The new face of fashion is a direct response to the demands of global brands that want to penetrate the lucrative Asia-Pacific markets such as India and China.

“They want to have a more reflective beauty in their advertising, to more directly relate to consumers through the models and fashion ambassadors that are endorsing their products,” Mr Lock said.

“We are seeing a growth in demand for Asian faces in advertising, promotion and marketing, so our strategy with IMG Models is to have a better-rounded portfolio of girls to choose from.”

The new strategy dovetails with IMG's other interests in the Asia-Pacific; it owns Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai, Luxury Week in Hong Kong, the Eco Style event in Kuala Lumpur and for the past three years has produced the Singapore Fashion Festival.

“It's a huge growth area for us,” Mr Lock said.

I remember her, now! She was on the launch cover of Vogue India. Didn't realize this was her. I'm really sorry if there's already a thread for her.

I believe you have misspelled her name. It is actually Monikangana Dutta.
She is from India, and is half-Assamese and half-Marathi.

I know, but that's how IMG spelled it--I didn't really know how to change the thread title  Thanks for the information.

^no worries.

I looked at the IMG website and I couldn't find her. I guess they don't have her on there yet.

Ok after all the debate about her name, I'm going to just change the thread to Kangana Dutta. Unless someone has a strong objection that it should be listed as Monikangana Dutta?

^So that was you... I just searched her name and the thread's name suddenly changed from the moment I had it on my search result to the moment I arrived on the thread.

Back on topic, the IMG tests above really convinced me, she's got a unique face shape and very expressive eyes, a bit lost in her thoughts yet still an amazing presence

Truly unique face. There isn't another girl out there right now that looks like her. I wonder what IMG will be doing with her - she could easily go the high fashion route with those looks but she is short. I'm not buying the 5'9 they've listed for her at all. I'd like to see her walking though - I wonder what she'll do this season.

More Kangana. I think her look is truly elegant - she's really got something going on. These aren't the best pictures but I think with the right photographer something magical could be unleashed.

I really like her face -- it's got a certain artistic quality to it, like looking at a Mughal miniature. I am sort of reminded of Georgina, in that she also has a face that conjures up portraiture (imo).

I'm really excited to see the IMG showpackages this time around because I wonder what Kangana's card will look like. I hope they've shot something new for her.

I think the third model in this set of pictures is Sheetal Mallar (I might be wrong, but it looks like her to me).

I am excited to see her show card as well, I know it is going to be interesting considering the uniqueness of her facial features.

On a side note, I was kind of disappointed that they changed her name from Monikangana to Kangana, but I guess it is easier to say the latter.

Here is (Moni)Kangana Dutta's showcards from IMG Paris.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa:woot:

Another Indian model!!! I just had to click on her thread when I read the word Dutta. I suspected her to be Indian because I remembered Lara Dutta and looks like it's true! Hope to see her on the runway! Eventhough her face isn't as strong as Lakshmi's but it's great to see more diversity. More power to Asian models!:p
