Unfortunate he must be a nightmare to interact with when he doesn’t get his way, let alone work with. He is talented as a designer. His design sensibilities are not my preference in any way, but there’s no denying how much influence he’s had in the athlete/leisurewear demographic, and he still stands out above the rest.

People laugh at how unreasonable and clueless his demands were for the merchandising of his Gap collab at stores. But he’s approaching the retail experience as more than just shopping: It’s actually interesting that he wanted customers to dig through giant piles of black bags for their purchases LOL The man has always had a worldbuilding vision that fortunately— or unfortunately, always been influenced by performance/installation art. It’s all hilariously pretentious, but so is the creative industry. I find him too good for these corporations.

I don't think he has an understanding of fast fashion retail and the trickle down effect that influences their designs. To say Gap copied your designs whilst you working for them for their specific collections and to add clout/an aura by having you there through an expensive deal is pretty childish. Plus, he should have honestly known what he was getting himself into because this isn't a prestige house or notable contemporary brand, it's Gap (and Adidas too...).

He does have skill and talent, there is no denying it, but it is a scenario where for a lot of his endeavours there have been too many yes people. Always being accommodated towards based on extreme demands and behaviours. It is also funny because like Gvasalia and others, they have made talk and references about the elitism and attitude of the industry but then behaviour like this doesn't actually make you or the industry look any better. Reminds me of Raf's attitude when he was at Dior in some ways.

I don´t see any talent in Kanye West as a fashion designer.

All I can see are huge marketing doses in different business areas, to keep cashing his talent as a singer as much as possible.
