May he rest in peace. I knew this was coming but I still gasped when I read the news.

This is truly the end of an era.

RIP! Literally got a pang of shock as the Business of Fashion email popped up on my phone.
I suppose everything sort of makes sense now. His absence, the Vogue tributes etc.

I don't even know what to say :(. The last I read was that he was feeling tired and possibly a little unwell so he didn't make an appearance during fashion week. Karl has been on the fashion scene for so long, and love him or hate him, he was the definition of an icon who stuck to his beliefs and values, and some part of me expected him to live to the ripe old age of forever. I'm not even sure I'm making sense anymore. I'm in a weird state of shock and disbelief that this news is real and not a joke.

    Rest in peace, Karl.

It does, maybe it was something expected, but when it really happens is really unexpected.

Cannot image what will happen to Chanel, Fendi and fashion in general. He was the most iconic designer, truly a household name.

    :(

the last and most long lasting of the old world died.

born in the 30s he lived through all those important decades..met those people....
i wasnt always a fan of his fashion. but i have huge respect for him as the person he was. his attitude, giving a damn, building this whole apparat around him. and he was living for this, fashion ,art , life. he was working 24/7 his whole life. he was a maniac. he was a living true icon.

the chanel show in march will be so emotional.

now the talk begins, who is next? i am sure people are hoping for phoebe. i wouldnt be too happy about it. im sure virginie will do interim for now

    REST IN PEACE

So so so sad. MFW and PFW will be somber and emotional for everyone.

From reports he was dictating everything for Fendi and Chanel until the very end so I have no doubt Fendi and Chanel will have their futures well thought out by Karl. Still won't make it easy. Thursday's Fendi show will be an absolute emotional mess for the Fendi team, stylists, models, attendees...everyone. And Chanel will be even more emotional for everyone...

Fashion changes incessantly, but Karl Lagerfeld remained as a constant for decades, outlasting everyone else, both in life and work. Now he is gone.

We have lost more than we can imagine.

I'm beyond sad, so much is lost. He had a great life and gave the world unimaginable collections and ideas. Karl was part of a generation that is now completely gone. it is truly an end of an era.

For the sake of global culture, I hope his life, possessions and ideas will be documented in a museum or institute, he and everyone else deserves it, he was like a library.

I'm shocked even if we all knew it was coming, but what a remarkable legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.

I'm still a bit in shock. A really beautiful and nice gesture would be if they dressed the Eiffel tower in black.
