Fabien Baron to oversee brand identity for Gianfranco Ferré. Karl Templer, who has worked closely with Baron over the years as the stylist for Calvin Klein's runway shows and campaigns, will serve to heighten the appeal of the Ferré men's and GF Ferré men's and women's Fall 2008 collections as chief stylist.
STEPPING OUT: Sigerson Morrison is rolling out its first ad campaign in February fashion magazines, thanks to a cash infusion from Marc Fisher LLC, a Greenwich, Conn.-based footwear firm that purchased a majority stake more than a year ago. A spokeswoman noted the media buy will "start small," adding that the company plans to allocate $500,000 a season. The first images, which were shot by Fabien Baron and styled by Karl Templer, will be seen in Vogue, and internationally in Paris Vogue, Italian Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Another and i-D. Baron also worked on creating a new brand identity for the company. "The moment we decided to grow in this direction, we thought of Fabien," said Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison. "We knew he and his talented team would help us find the visual language to explain to the indoctrinated who we are and what we are about. We also knew that he would give us the most amazing images that would be perfect for us." Baron also encouraged the brand to feature German model Hartje Andresen in the ads. "He really pushed for her, so we said yes. I mean, how do you say no to Fabien?"
Karl Templer Tapped as Interview Creative Director
Stylist signs exclusive U.S. editorial contract
Thursday, March 20, 2008
(NEW YORK) Karl Templer has been confirmed as Interview's new creative director. According to co-editorial directors Fabien Baron and Glenn O'Brien, he begins full-time in June. Templer, who replaces Sam Shahid, will continue to work on commercial styling projects; his editorial work, however, will appear exclusively in Interview in the United States. Templer will continue to contribute to select international publications. His hire comes as no surprise, given the close relationship he formed with Baron while working side-by-side on Calvin Klein campaigns over the years.
In related news, Rebecca Sinn has been named entertainment editor. A former associate features editor of Vanity Fair, Sinn was most recently talent director for the Web site Fifth Medium. Interview will officially re-launch beginning with the September issue.
Source | WWDAfter only one season as the face of Calvin Klein Collection, Toni Garrn has been replaced by Suvi, in a decidedly more edgy campaign than seasons past. Shot once again by Fabien Baron and styled by Camilla Nickerson and Karl Templer, the images, which also include model Blaine Cook, are simple and minimal but also more structural. "The clothes are characterized by sharp, angular lines with a real emphasis at the waist, torso, and legs," said Francisco Costa, creative director of Calvin Klein Collection for women. "We thought that Suvi was the perfect choice to bring that to life in this very graphic campaign. She's so current and versatile in her look and expression. She really exudes a certain strength that echoes the overall look of the season."
