it's the perfect look for this event. she looks just ... indescribably amazing. like an actual goddess. SOOO glamourous and sooooo supermodel.

without question the best look of the night. not even the slightest thought otherwise. but this is the most SPECTACULAR that she's ever looked. it's just insane. love. love. looooooooove.

Karolina Kurkova teamed her sequin gown with a matching sequined turban-style headpiece at the Met Costume Institute Gala. It's a daring look, and not one that everyone could get away with, but Karolina always manages to look flawless. Today is no exception. Her skin, with those sculpted cheekbones and beautiful texture, managed to hold its own against all those sequins and the metallic bronze and black eye was one of our favourite makeup looks so far. Met Gala 2012 Best Dressed Stars: Who Wore What? [PHOTOS]

Known to be the "Oscars of the East Coast," the Met Gala is one of fashion's biggest events of the year. Gowns of all hues and structures flood the red carpet, but who wore what? And who among the beautiful celebrity belles stole the spotlight?

The Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala or widely known as the Met Gala took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with an impressive list of celebrity guest for the night's bash.

For this year, it celebrated Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli and was also deemed to have achieved its most star-studded year to date.

Celebrities and designers paraded at the red carpet arrival as photographers take pictures while they pose. While there were some A-list stars who definitely stood out wearing fashion worthy dresses, there were some like model Karolina Kurkova who looked dazzling in a rose gold, Rachel Zoe designed gown.

The ever beautiful Jessica Alba also stood out in a metallic dress that freely draped to the floor. The actress and business woman shines in a Michael Kors Grecian inspired gold gown. Carrey Mulligan who was one of the hosts that night wore a Prada silver and gold sequined dress while the "Avengers" star Scarlett Johansson stunned everyone with a Dolce and Gabbana tulle mermaid skirt gown.

Camilla Belle and Gisele Bundchen sported curve hugging dresses and while the other bared a low cut, the other opts for a slit. Camilla wore a Ralph Lauren creation while Brazilian model Gisele slips on a black Givenchy.

The Met Gala is known as the "Oscars of the East Coast" and fashion's biggest night of the year; so of course it is a daunting feat to have to decide on a best-dressed lady of the night. Despite how difficult it may be to choose, some stars truly did shine brighter than others.
Czech model Karolina Kurkova stood out as the supernova of the night in a dazzling rose gold Rachel Zoe design. The glittering floor length gown featured a flowing hem, high neckline, long sleeves and an open back. Although the fabric could have been overwhelming, the dress fit Kurkova like a glove. To top it all off, the blonde bombshell wore a glittering turban atop her head. Yes, it reminded us of Kate Moss in Marc Jacobs at the 2009 Met Gala; only this was amped up about 1000 watts. Bravo.
