I agree, the turban takes the gown from beautiful to extraordinary. I remember women in movies in the 60s or was it 70s that used to wear turbans and looked very glamorous

I agree that the turban must stay. Without it (and with her hair down), this would've just been your typical current Hollywood look, aka, tacky, cheap and predictable. With the turban and her hair up, the look goes somewhere else - true old school glamor. It's not easy to look sophisticated when you're head to toe in gold, but she does. And I don't disagree that it's a bit 'costumey' but that's precisely the point, imo. This is a time and place for that if there ever were one.


. It was definitely one of those iconic red carpet moments, especially loved the look of the dress from the back view
