Kate Winslet

^ i agree LoveLetter, i think this award is Kate's, she was superb in the reader, and in Revolutionary Road, but she can't be nominated twice in the same category. I think not being nominated in Supporting and Lead will increase her chances, and prevent a vote split, although as the globes showed, people really want her to win. She'll get this oscar, and if she doesn't, then it will go down as one of the AMPAs biggest mistakes.

I adore her hair here, but yeah, the dress is a bit weird. I wouldn't call it fugly ^ but it's not her finest moment, for sure.
Apart from the dress she looks beautiful.

There's just something wrong about the dress she wore to the RR premier in London... It seems like something that a Tara Reid would wear or something... :(

Am I the only one who actually like her dress?

Nope, I liked it too ^_^

About her performance in The Reader--I read (I do a lot of reading, apparently :p) that the company releasing the film chose to push Kate as Best Supporting Actress for that film because they were fairly sure she'd be receiving lots of Oscar buzz for Revolutionary Road as Best Actress and didn't want to have to compete with that, hence her win at the Globes in that category for The Reader. One article I saw said it was a crazy thing because she really is the main character in The Reader and they wondered if putting her in that category would hamper her chances of winning an Oscar sooo....maybe this is a good thing? My fingers are crossed and will remain so until they announce the winner!

I don't see how her role in The Reader isn't best suited for the Main catergory.
She is the main female character and is in at least 60% of the movie. I was more surprised when her roled ended up as supporting at the GG.

I agree. She's basically the focus of the film.
