I just saw her again in the first version of The Stepford Wives. She plays her role in a low-key way that gains in intensity and is very effective. The director knew what he was doing, with all the other women, more expressive, as foils to her. She has a very interesting face, reminiscent sometimes of Ali McGraw, Julie Christie, Jacqueline Bisset. She is one of those quintessential actresses representing a very definite era. In the scene with her therapist, her understated way of acting (long pauses, pleading eyes and face, no words), she has a definitely European style of performance: think Liv Ullman for example.
Beautiful thread and pictures, thanks !
