Knightley re-teams with director Joe Wright (both worked together on Atonement and Pride & Prejudice) to raise awareness about domestic violence in this harrowing advert.

^People would usually laugh at the idea of men being beaten up too, but it's true.

Oof, that was a bit hard to watch but I managed through it.
I commend Keira for taking part in this and letting the public know how serious domestic violence is not only towards women, but as you guys have mentioned, men as well.
Great advert. It was very well done, albeit kind of disturbing but it's all in part of the education.

^It's a metaphor. In the "script" of life, this isn't supposed to happen - hence her line "we didn't agree to that, this wasn't on the script".

^I think the advert is produced for the UK. I found this advert really moving and hope it will achieve what it set out to.

Certainly drives home the message, and props to Knightley for using her fame for a good cause.

TBH I doubt if a commercial like this would ever be made or shown in the States, which is kind of a shame.

I don't think it would be shown in the states either, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did show it here. Most commercials aimed toward domestic violence that I've seen are usually sending across the message in a less blunt way, like with words rather than actions which isn't always the best way to get a message across. I think that for some people in the US this commercial would be too straight-forward or graphic.

^ I watch nip/tuck and yes it's very out there. All the sex and violence is pretty intense. Good comparison though.

i agree. it's not P/C enough. which is sad. as if domestic violence can be shown in any other light. they try but the message hardly ever gets across. we need this kind of shock statement. if you imagine the victims out there...this is real and this is the kind of violence they endure.

They should air this is America too, this was very uncomfortable to watch yet strangely effective...Keira is so good, and good for her for standing up during this crucial moment.
