Hairstylist Keith Carpenter’s combination of a sculptor’s appreciation for structure and form with a technical skill is unmatched by his peers and his talented versatility has made him one of the most sought after talents in fashion, beauty, and celebrity styling.
As a boy in the Deep South, Keith became intrigued by beauty at a young age, gleaning an early appreciation for the art and drama of hairdressing. Keith sought a more metropolitan lifestyle in Montreal, Canada where he submerged himself in the art of hairstyling and was soon given the position of artistic director at one of Montreal’s largest and most established salons. Keith was introduced to the world of hairstyling for fashion photo shoots, acquiring an agent in London and often traveling to Europe for studio styling jobs.
Fate led Keith to New York, where he was asked by famed hairstylist Garren to help open his namesake salon in Henri Bendel. After two years working in the salon, Keith began to pursue studio hairstyling on his own. He quickly began working with an impressive list of photographers including Bruce Weber, Peter Lindbergh, Michael Thompson, and Terry Richardson.
