I know it’s not Kenzo without the prints but the ones they used this season are either dated or borderline hideous. There were some looks I liked though and if given a choice, I'd definitely choose this over Pharrell's
Love Nigo's work and there are some nice outwear pieces here. The venue is lovely too, but overall Kenzo feels a bit lost these days. Wonder if there is demand for this.
The womenswear was particularly good!
I didn’t expect that coming from him!
My nephews loves his Human Made brand. And I feel like his own brand is more lively and playful than this.
Nevertheless, it’s better than the SS collection. He needs an extra voice I think in his studio.
The problem with recent kenzo is that it often looks juvenile instead of youthful, outdated instead of retro. It’s like a grown person who keeps on using comic sans font in their PowerPoint.
At least he reduced the cartoonish graphics this time around.
I like the use of japanese motifs in the prints and jacquards. I also like those padded classic japanese vests. I think that´s the way to go for this brand: updating classic japanese fashion codes.
BUT he chose to mix it with those horrible Helmut Lang-esque tactical vests and all those logos here and there...and he got lost in translation. And the silver sequins...
Japan is a very rich country regarding fashion codes: stay focused on that!!
