The Children's Defense Fund honored five of its Beat the Odds award recipients with a star-studded ceremony at the Beverly Hills hotel. Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Chalke, and Lisa Kudrow were among the guests who showed up to support the organization and celebrate the inspirational young women who received scholarships and shared their stories of overcoming adversity. "This event is a total tear-jerker," said Keri Russell (in Club Monaco). "These kids survive in these situations and not only survive but come out so beautifully and are so much better for it and it’s great to be reminded of that."
