Kerstin Schneider named editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Germany
Kerstin Schneider (47) will be taking up the post of editor-in-chief at the fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar in Berlin starting in January. The fashion design graduate, who is also a trained seamstress, began her career in 1989 at the German edition of Elle where she has been the Fashion Director since 2002. Between 1998 and 2002 she was the Creative Director at Peek & Cloppenburg and Deputy Fashion Director at the German-language edition of Vogue. Kerstin Schneider succeeds Margit J. Mayer, who has headed the editorial board at Harper’s Bazaar since the launch of the German edition in Fall 2013.
Manuela Kampp-Wirtz, Managing Director of BurdaStyle: "Kerstin Schneider is a journalist with an outstanding sensitivity for style, excellent technical skills and an impressive ability to showcase fashion – both digitally and in glossy print (media). She stands for haute couture and streetstyle, at once embodying both classic looks and emerging trends. We are delighted that she will be shaping the future of Harper’s Bazaar. Our thanks go out to Margit J. Mayer for her work in establishing the German version of this legendary fashion medium."
