Orlando Bloom gladly stoked rumors of a romance with costar Kirsten Dunst during the Sept. 10 Elizabethtown premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
The British actor pulled a Tom Cruise by crashing one of Dunst's interviews to rave about how "wonderful" she is, while hugging her tightly.
Later, when asked what he'd like for Christmas, Bloom answered, "Kirsten by my side – she's all I need to have."
But what of Dunst's longtime on-off boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal? He was also in Toronto Sept. 10, for his drama Brokeback Mountain, but he and Dunst were no-shows at each other’s screenings.
While a source says, "I'm not sure they're still on," a pal of Jake's notes, "He's obsessed with Kirsten. He risks other relationships because all he wants to do is spend time with her."
On Sept. 11, Dunst and Gyllenhaal did arrive together at a private gala in Toronto for Bee Season – featuring a tiny role for Bloom's sometime sweetie, an absent Kate Bosworth.
As for her relationship with Gyllenhaal, "Kirsten and Jake continue to be friends," says Dunst's rep. "It's not likely that you’ll see either one on the red carpet with each other – it just fuels tabloid speculation."

I seriously doubt that Orlando said that. He likes Kirsten, that's no secret, but as a friend, not more. Also, Jake was in Venice with Kirsten and Kate was in Nashville (yesterday) with Orlando...
Tabloids are so boring...they really should come up with something more creative than dating co-stars...

Elizabethtown co-stars Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom set tongues wagging with their outrageous flirting at the MTV Video Music Awards in Miami. They play lovers who meet on the way to a funeral in the romantic comedy due out Oct. 14, and according to witnesses, their mutual attraction was obvious at the Aug. 28 show!

An eyewitness tells Star he saw the pair getting hot and heavy in The Raleigh hotel pool hours after the show. "It was shocking! Everyone was watching them, but they carried on making out regardless. There's real chemistry between them. It was hot!"

And another source says this is no one-off, either. "Kirsten and Orlando have been hiding behind the movie, but this weekend they just lost it and showed how much they're into each other."

The pair certainly couldn't hide their attraction on the VMAs red carpet: "Her fingers were entwined with his and she had her hands on his chest, forearm or shoulder at all times," says another eyewitness."

In fact, Star has learned that despite an on-again, off-again three-year relationship with actress Kate Bosworth, 22, Orlando, 28, has been secretly infatuated with Kirsten for months! "He wants her really badly," says a friend. "I think he would leave Kate in a second if Kirsten became available. He said Kate means the world to him, but he can be fickle." But what about Kirsten's significant other?

WHAT ABOUT JAKE?
Though she recently reunited with ex Jake Gyllenhaal, 24, after breaking off their nearly two-year romance in July 2004 (at the same time she began filming Elizabethtown with Orlando for three months!), friends say Kirsten, 23, is always eager for some distraction. "Jake and Kirsten have been friends and lovers for years, but they're stuck on a merry-go-round," says a source. "She admits that she loves it when guys fight over her, and I get the feeling she's really relishing being the temptress to these two!" And it looks as if Orlando isn't complaining. "You can tell he's intrigued by her," a witness to the pair's interactions says.

The final verdict? After studying photos of the couple in Miami, body-language expert Dr. Patti Wood told Star, "I'd be surprised if Kirsten and Orlando weren't a couple." Stay tuned!
