Kmart Gets a High Fashion Makeover for Fall

"This fall, Kmart is getting into the fast-fashion game, debuting their own versions of the season’s must-have pieces, like this cute faux-fur vest (left), skinny cargo jeans, and a faux-leather bomber that’s only $40 bucks! Signature details include fine stitching, fully-lined jackets, and sleek, streamlined silhouettes. This kind of quality coming naturally to Kmart’s new and improved design team, which is now composed of former staffers from the likes of Club Monaco, Ralph Lauren and YSL. And the juniors collections are stepping up their fashion games as well, staging runway shows in L.A. and Chicago for Selena Gomez’s Dream Out Loud line, Bongo and Rebecca Bonbon." (instyle.com)

It's about time that Kmart upped their fashion game! I'm sure it's been tough competing with Target, and even Wal-Mart has gotten in on the fashion game well ahead of Kmart.

    Thoughts?

Agreed that it's about time! It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

Seriously though, K-Mart is so gross.

Those two pictured items look kinda cool.

the truth is that it's easier to get great designers to work for places like this now that so many high end companies are cutting back and laying designers off...

    former YSL designer?...
    yep...that's what it says...

^ me too. It might be cool. So far those pieces are not bad. Although all the kmarts where I live are rather run down and dark...shady places.

    this stuff is really expensive.

    that wool jacket costs 89.99
and the t shirt costs 16.99

these prices are way above target's and walmart's prices...

i cant think of anyone that would pay 90$ for a garment at kmart. :innocent:

Hmmm...I'm skeptical. I agree - too little, too late. Besides, I don't even know where Kmart is in my area (are there any??).

the k-marts near me have police officers guarding the exits against shoplifters. it's a little too ghetto for me.

    ^ Location, location, location.

A K-Mart in my town closed down, so I thought K-Mart wasn't doing so well anymore. :ermm:

I think a lot of stores can afford to jump on the band wagon like Target does. ^_^

This seems like a last ditch effort to survive the economic decline.

has anyone seen any of this stuff in stores yet? I agree, no one is going to pay 90 dollars at kmart for much of anything, especially a jacket!
