really? it seems more futuristic to me, especially with the gathers throughout the leg...the anti-smoothness.

i used to wear them often in the 90s. there were smooth and unsmooth ways of wearing them. but also comme des garcons and other japanese designers (including realy cult kitsch brands) were doing them then. and that also blended with the goth babydoll thing. i wore mine all the time. and for shoots too.

those broken doll photos remind me of those times, not just the tights but the clothing.

Hmmm...I'm not really into thigh high socks....it looks a bit distasteful..I don't know why? I don't mind the just below knee high socks.

They aren't prada socks, just knee high ones. I don't know who made them unfortunatly

has anyone tried cutting off the tops of tights with any success? i'd be willing to try it if i thought it would work...there's a small inhibited part of me that never wants to try anything if i can't be sure of complete success i hate failing!

i was browsing sock-dreams.com for some polkadot tights and i came across several reasonable facsimiles of the prada gathered thights.

What do you guys think of these American Apparel "thigh high" socks? I'm thinking of buying them in solid black...

they look like my soccer socks.

francesca-the ones you posted ar elovely, however they may be too thick for the sandals. If you look at the prada's runway pics closely you will see that tights are somewhat sheer, silky yet look like almost a cable knit.

I remember my freshman year in college (many many years ago) I used to wear super minis and shorts with above the knee tights. Who knew they would have a come back

I would love to hear peoples suggestions on this too. I do like how they were shown on the runway & how MK wore them in the new Australian Harpers Bazaar.
I love the Prada ones... how they are all loose & slouchy. Are the H&M ones like that? What colors did they have. Ive been looking for a similar pair (light grey)... Ill have to check H&M out.
