had to post this as i found this collection extremely interesting and beautiful. and also that he was a former photographer turned designer.

We often hear of fashion designers becoming photographers like Mugler and Lagerfeld but it is pretty rare that a fashion photographer decides to become a designer. That is exactly the case of Koto Bolofo who was inspired by a Joseph Beuys exhibition and some greyish brown felt blankets that he stumbled upon years ago at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. This will be Koto Bolofo's first true winter collection in cashmere.

OMG :woot: I had no idea!! I adore Koto! Thank you for posting

adorable clothes, thanks Scott
seems like Joseph Beuys has an impact on many people
I wonder what it is
he is supposed to be an essential person to the fiber arts movement
a sort of patron I think it was

i like the very first outfit posted here, especially with the ribbon (?) protruding from the collar

I dont like the styling, it is scary, and the clothes, well the shirt and the skirt are ok, the pants look ugly to me

it's true indeed, gius. an vandevorst and filip arickx still to this day count him as one of their major influences. i do think alot of it is that aspect of he using material so dynamically and conceptually in so many of his works.

Koto?!. when did this happen?!.
I'm not entirely loving the pieces here, the cut is.. odd, if not bad from what I can see.. which is not much anyway. but I respect his new phase as a dressmaker and wish him well.. I'm guessing he's photographed this too?. I can't help but being taken by his vision more than anything.. hope to see more of his designs to be fully convinced.

thanks for bringing this on, Scott.

great atmosphere...there's not much to it, but I really like the simplicity of the 3rd look:heart: I'm not familiar with his photography:ninja:
Thanks for posting, Scott

^ really happy you posted that link , scott :crush:
and totally it looks the same as in his photography
if you shoot clothing like that, well there's no wonder he will want to make his own
