Lanvin F/W 2017.18 : Faretta by Paolo Roversi

Lol both agencies changed their captions 30 min ago..
Is it OG?

It's by Roversi

Awww, you had to spoil all the fun, Apple! Lol.

Thanks for the info. It seems Faretta is set to be the girl of the season. I know this may sound random, but it's strange not to see a single campaign with Jess PW.

That last shot is so laughable, she looks like she's about to sneeze. I don't understand what this girl's charm is.

She's an amazing catwalk girl and you can't deny she looks incredible when she walks but it just doesn't translate into still images. I haven't been impressed with any of her print work thus far. Maybe it's from a lack of experience, but she isn't that impressive. I'm not surprised that this campaign is a flop. You have a weak model and a very niche photographer. What can you expect?

^ I'd say even on runway she's trying too hard to be fierce. I love her only in polas.

This campaign seems the most boring campaign of the season!

This is even more "bad" than Chanel.
Nothing can save this....
Lanvin is so passé now. This just look like the state of the house right now.

I'm obviously in the minority but I actually like this.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually like the clothes here. Jarrar's only mistake was not building a strong enough narrative around this campaign. Maybe a bit of energy could've help as well. As much as I like Roversi, he simply wasn't the right guy for this, and certainly not they hyped model who looks like a little girl playing dress-up. This is where you need Testino.

The clothing looks accessible and beautiful in a way which would appeal to the moneyed and sophisticated mature woman. Why couldn't that work for Lanvin? Michael Kors has been doing that for years, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, and perhaps even Alber. There was still space for her if they'd have given her more time.

^ Yes, I like the clothes in the ads pretty well too. I'm not sure these pieces are representative of the whole line though ...

It would be interesting to know if she did any trunk shows, something that both Michael Kors and Alber really got after.

Yeah, I figured. I found the collection quite solid. There were better pieces to choose from. Perhaps the literal Lanvin ones? It not only reflected what women would actually wear, even in a very simplistic way, but also reiterated the brand codes which I thought they needed more than ever. You don't need to push to the ends of the earth each season.

And I certainly think that when you go with such an accessible direction especially, trunk shows are almost a prerequisite! As is doing a capsule collection in Asia (do you recall Wang charged Alber with not expanding the brand enough in that region?). Basically, you really need to drive the point home. Would be very surprised if they didn't go this route personally. It seems not much preparation went into Jarrar's appointment, only what was expected of her.
