Lanvin Bags

Did anyone figure out what bag Jessica is carrying in these pictures? I'm really interested on this bag. I know it's definitely not Be & D.

I'm considering getting this lanvin bag that jessica is carrying, my only concern is how long I'll be able to wear it. I really really like the bag and I have for a while, but if I spend that much money on one, I want it to be something I can wear for at least 2-3 years. I'm not so concerned about it being trendy, but I dont want to look ridiculous with it either.

What do you guys think? is it worth it?

I love the Lanvin bag but it doesn't look good on Jessica Simpson...doesn't go with her outfit, she needs something more dressier.

Oh yes, I know the lanvin bags been out. It was on barneys online, but was sold out the next day from when I saw it. I really like the de la renta one too, I tink I'll call bergdorf in NY tommorow and see if they're already in or when they'll be in. Thanks for the tip, taitai :-)

Guessgirl, there is a lovely lady from Peru who is the senior SA in the Bergdorf bag department. So kind and helpful. I think her name might be Maria, let me look for my records.

isn't the lanvin leather nice? soft but seems quite durable. and I thought the shape was practical. but I just didn't like the buttons -- so big and close together. I think the ODL looks nicer but fear that it's even smaller than the lanvin.

Yes agree, the leather actually makes the bag look expensive and luxurious. That same design on inferior leather would make the bag look cheap and crass. I just wish the bag was bigger.

Accd to Lanvin Monaco, they are not bringing back the black Jet Set bag for Fall/Winter. Or at least not in most European boutiques.

Has anyone heard if this is the case in the States?

I hadn't heard that form the barneys sa's (who unfortunately call it the "jessica simpson bag" -- ick). but they only had one left and didn't make it sound like they're getting more (which could be salemanship).

There was also an unhelpful SA last time I was at Barneys a few months back. She was hanging out at Goyard. Might have the same woman.

I finally got my hands on the black studded lanvin bag and I bought it on the spot! It is such an awesome bag in real life. I love how the gold studs have uneven color.
A few boutiques are carrying a few more of this bag into Fall/Winter. I thought it would be smaller than what I am used to but length wise it is almost exactly as long as the Fendi spy (medium).

ETA - I got mine in a Europe boutique and it's cheaper by a hundred dollars here (even pre tax)

^^^ That's not bad for a knock off.

But the size is totally off, the Lanvin is longer and more importantly, the nickel studs don't look anything like the Jet Set bag. The Jet Set's nickel studs aren't in "even, consistent" gold, each stud has a different tone and is burnished differently which is what REALLY makes the bag unique and interesting. If they used regular gold studs, the bag wouldn't look half as interesting.

I just checked Barney's online and the Jet Set is being sold again (still at US$1,600).

I measured my bag - 14 inches width by 8 inches height (without the straps).

Those of you that have this bag...do you treat it with waterproofing spray?

^^^ No, I don't believe in using waterproofing materials. The bag is softly and very slightly grained, so I expect a few scuffs here and there (e.g. if you have long nails, you might scratch the bag by accident.) Also the studs are throughout the bag so the only part you'd have to worry about are the sides and maybe the straps.

How large is the bag Taitai? In comparison to the spy or paddington dimemsions?

SoCal, the bag was bigger than I expected (which was a really pleasant surprise). It looks smaller in the pics with Lohan and Simpson.

I just compared it with my green medium spy and the length is almost identical (when you lay out the medium spy flat on the bed). Because it is shorter, it looks somewhat less bulky than either a spy or paddington. It is the kind of bag that looks good even with a dressy suit or a weekend outfit. You can take it easily from day to night, as I have.

The leather on the handles is different from the rest of the bag (it is smoother while the leather on the body has a very slight grain.)

I've received several compliments on the bag, if that helps
