THE LATEST LAUREN

LAUREN TEMPANY made friends in high places the moment she came into the fashion consciousness. The 20-year-old Scot, who travelled to London from her home outside Edinburgh to pursue a modelling career after meticulously finishing off her studies, was signed to a small London agency before being spotted in the street by IMG's Germaine Knight. After taking to the catwalk for Giles Deacon, Julien Macdonald, Nicole Farhi and Gibo during London Fashion Week, she caught the attention of Miuccia Prada - a renowned model talent scout - and was booked exclusively to star in the Miu Miu show. Next, she was snapped up for the Alexander McQueen show in Paris and now she's back in London being noticed by the likes of David Sims and Paolo Roversi. "She has this really amazing feline beauty with quite sharp features that are just incredibly elegant," says IMG's Duncan Ord. "Her look is quite aristocratic, but it's also her happy-go-lucky personality that is winning everybody over. We've had all these incredibly beautiful Russian girls coming through which has posed a bit of a language problem, so everybody is loving how easy it is to get on with Lauren." You may not be aware of it, but you already know Lauren Tempany. She has shone on the fashion pages of this magazine more times than is decent, is the face of Stobo Castle Spa and one of the pairs of legs bestriding a prone Eva Herzigova in Louis Vuitton's summer 2003 print campaign. There is even a mannequin based on her measurements (34-24-35, since you ask). Tempany, 20, was recently signed up by IMG, the management company who represent Gisele and Liv Tyler. Designers Alexander McQueen and Julien Macdonald feature her in their catwalk shows, and David Bailey is keen to take her portrait. Interstellar success seems imminent, but she remains with Glasgow-based model agency, The Look.
