i wasn't sure whether to create a thread for transparency in general which i think is definitely a continuation from s/s08 and 07 (Mette created a great thread for it last s/s
)....or to create it with a focus on transparent materials as layers which i have noticed in a lot of s/s09 collections so far..
not only are there a lot of sheer and see-through materials being used...but designers seem to be using them in clever ways as a tool for layering over patterns, solid colours, etc.
...i've also noticed a lot of sheer materials being used to contrast with more structured, stiff materials and shapes... i am not very good at explaining myself here, so let me see if pictures will help.
i love all this sheerness on the runways....i feel like it's being used really beautifully and in interesting ways..
what do you guys think?

and you're absolutely right...i think the idea of creating and playing with light because of the layers is the most interesting part...
i also think that transparent layers are much more do-able in real life... they can be worked into an 'ordinary' wardrobe much easier than just one see-through layer which is appealing i think
