Lemaire F/W 2024.25 Paris

Lemaire does it again! Amazing work on the coats :) The aesthetic they're pushing is interesting albeit tacky at times

Nice coats, beautiful coats...

That's an average-to-good (at best) collection of ready-to-wear, in the true sense of the word. It's easy to enter a Lemaire store and pick up any of this. No excitement in there, just a nice albeit monotone collection of somewhat practical pieces that'll blend in in your closet.

I just wish he'd push himself a bit more, I find him so redundant.

Side note - I personally am so tired of the "I haven't had sex in 5 years but I have a mega collection of ceramics and I travel to Japan once a year" aesthetic in general. My god.

I think a main issue is the same styling over and over again in the last 4-5 years - they need new ideas here. In the stores, I’m always surprised to find unique pieces with thoughtful fabrications each new season after writing them off based on the runway.

Ironically, he was more dynamic at Hermes than his own label. They are definitely capable of evolution.

Can’t stand their sizing approach though..it’s always a gamble buying them online. When it’s still “relaxed fit” after 2 sizes down, it’s an issue.

I personally think he peaked at Hermès. That said he did continue to create excellent collections under his, then newly rebranded, label with his label great show being "AW18 Womenswear". After that, his clothes seem to become a bit pretentious and tricky.

For a brand seemingly so focused on timelessness, practicality and wearability, that's a shame.
