Lemaire Menswear S/S 2024 Paris

It's a lovely collection, as per usual - I'm not sure it needed the more 'playful' touches, like what appears to be several neckties dangling from underneath a jacket. Also, I get the motivation to style the models as if they were passing by on the street with all these layers and a bag casual slung over the shoulder, but I think at this point it would be nice to see something a little bit more 'reduced' again - We know at this point that is the Lemaire look you can build if you keep adding pieces to your wardrobe over the years, but it's starting to rely a bit too much on this particular image. One thing they haven't done in a good while is to show us something 'structured' through their lense - So perhaps something a bit more 'tailored' next fall, like their FW'16 menswear collection, would feel fresh for Lemaire.

Maybe a touch too layered both in styling and presentation. Usually the "models walking" approach works well but this time I found it was a little too cluttered.

That doesn't disregard the fact that it is still a very chic and romantic collection. Adore the colours and some of those sexier looking sheathe dresses. And despite the over layering, there's still a lightness to the looks where you can pick them apart for your own wardrobe which Lemaire does so well. Found the monsoon ridden safari atmosphere to be rather calming as well, particularly with the great soundscape.

Such a cinematic quality... a collection filled with warmth and beauty, and the casting was exceptional. So many looks to covet. His aesthetic hasn't shifted in any discernable way, but he's created a universe... and I really want to be part of it.

They never disappoint, do they? The colour scheme was amazing, especially the indigo and olive green in the show's first half. The atmosphere was brilliant as well, the monsoon soaked floor and the white curtains waving in the wind really created a cinematic vibe, akin to those of 'The Scent of the Green Papaya'. Nice to see them venture into eyewear as well!

The shoes at Lemaire are never it for me but oh god those clothes are convincing.
And I like the styling because while heavily layered, it’s always believable…Believable to the point that you would want to buy th whole look as it is.
I really like this.
It’s a great collection overall but maybe the best menswear collection so far since the beginning of the FW.

The problem I have with the styling is that it brings me back to the dreaded memory of early 2000's Helmut Lang and Ann Demeulemeester collections - And while those collections are admittedly still loved by the die-hard fans, I look back on those collections and can't help but think a separate piece existing out of the suggested context wasn't all that great. You really had to buy the whole thing or else the look of that season didn't quite work.

Lemaire is admittedly a different story and there are fortunately less pieces existing for pure adornment sake (Helmut's jersey and knitwear pieces, deconstructed to the point they would only resemble the outlines of a tee or a harness, only ever served that purpose). Summer is a good season for Lemaire as the lightweight construction of their pieces serves the needs of what people wear, but like I said, it would be nice to see how they'd interpret heavier, more structural fabrics and shapes come fall.
