Les Soldes

I did a search and didn't find much. Can someone explain the soldes? I know it's when stuff is on sale in France. Are we talking about designer stuff too? And how deep are te discounts? If someone could point me to a website or let me know the dates of the next soldes, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Yes, it's true. This year's soldes d'été (summer sales) in Paris start june 27 and last for about six weeks. Officially, stores may not have soldes after these six weeks until the winter sales in january. The sales include anything from furniture to designer fashion.
For designer stuff, discounts usually start at 20 - 50 % and can go up to 70.

Just before the soldes go to all the stores you want to get things from, take note of the things you want, prioritize those items and prices. If those things are very popular it might be worth it to get it at the beginning of the soldes because it might not last until the end. If you want to save, wait it out till the very end where everything gets dramatically marked down.

I went to Printemps and Galeries Lafayette and bought up a bunch of very nice Dior silk scarves, Fogal tights, and Margiela clothes really inexpensively, as in ~$15-45 for them!!
