Yeah i was getting really stupidly excited over the total,after seeing those videos espeically of the two children who lost their parents,the little boy crying was really upsetting. And even when put into consideration of how much money will go to each country/part of country. Its much better then nothing!

^^ the clip of those children was on the vicar of dibley christmas special too about an aid's campaign i think, coz i remember watching it and just bursting into tears...thats one thing i can never handle, childrens true emotional pain, no parents, it's just absolutely heart wrenching

That was the clip which completely broke me. Seeing that boy histerical. It made me realise how lucky I was just to have a roof over my head...

Yeah exactly the same here, i never realised how lucky i was until i saw those clips,it doesn't seem real and is just so horrible to see when theres so little you can do about it! (I'm a poor student at the moment!)

sorry to have to say this but i am finding the vein of this page (6) saccharine coated and sickly to say the least. Its a sad state when people need comic relief day to gain a bit of perspective. There is strife daily in the world and that is not going to stop anytime soon. Rather than take one day out to make yourself feel good, try and be consistent with your 'charity', why don't you make eye contact with the big issue seller once a week and buy a mag whilst there. Or support the local children hospice by making a soft toy donation or something.
We don't need millions once a year to make a difference, we need a little every day. I don't need an appointed day to make me reach out. My spirituality imploys me to everyday of my life.

N.B:- I have always been thankful for what I have. I was born in a country that has suffered from civil war and military oppression. Not forgetting economic decline. Yet, as a family we lived in relative comfort and more importantly we were free to travel, in and out of the country. My parents status and profession assured me a break, but I know many that never got a chance to get away. They live in dire strait and poverty. Daily subjugation even but still they exist.
You would be suprised to know that your neighbour does not live as you do. That alone should be humbling.

I give what i can to charity i was merely saying how those clips give you MORE perspective, reading something in a paper isnt much in comparision to seeing it,just like seeing it in reality would be a bigger impact then seeing it on tv. Not disagreeing with what you're saying however. People giving everyday would help alot more then once a year.

I hear you. As an Actor, my job is bringing what is on paper to life. I do understand what an impact a visual medium can have.

I think maybe the usage of perception, allying to sudden realisation as opposed to empathy might have triggered me off...

BTW I did come in to wax lyrical about LB and not start a UN split!

I am a poor student to, but I feel the same.
In relation to what SJPdeux is saying I do agree with you. I think a little everyday would be better but, things are not like that realistically for most people. Sorry to be sickly to you also, but people were just expresing how their perspectives had changed.

I love, love, loved the Comic Relief Little Britain...in a perfect world of course we would all be considering others at all times, and I'm sure most of us do give to charity collectors in the street, or donate/buy from charity shops, buy the big issue, do whatever tiny little bit we can...but events like Comic Relief are wondeful for squeezing that little bit extra out of everyone. Of course it's awful we need to see orphaned children crying before we call up with our credit card numbers, but we do need a lot once a year..in addition to the little we're giving every day or every other day.

A lot of people work long hours in jobs they don't enjoy just to get by. If at the end of every week they can buy a Big Issue and once a year donate a larger amount to something like Comic Relief then it's something that should be applauded. It's simply a way of reminding everyone to give.

Oh how I loved Vicki Pollard on Trisha!!! I wanted a whole hour special just on that...

I have to admitt i agree with some of the comments about americans not getting irony...especially growing up in the bible belt midwest of usa...so politically correct and literal here-which isn't necessarily all bad-but i do agree americans "get" irony but think there is a time and place for everything. when my british friends visited me in nyc we went to a comedy clubi realized how different our humor was-i would like ot think my humor isn't "simple"
anyways, unfortunately i have never seen little britain....

Without saying this in haste. I think the U.K is a hub of comdey talent. Apart from the new wave of britcoms we also have guys like Jimmy Carr, Gina Yashere and that (fat) man that does this osama bin laden jokes!
