^ Hope someone can upload the programme on youtube or other websites provided online viewing, as many Chinese TV shows update their videos on youtube so speedily (interesting right?) Moreover, hope the uploader (pity that we do not have one yet :mellow:) will be kind to add subtitles.

Model Liu Wen has been tapped to star in a Chinese reality television show, We’re in Love. Wen will be paired with Korean celebrity Siwon for the show, which will require the duo to complete tasks while pretending to be a couple in love. You know what they say: All’s fair in love and war…and reality TV.

I watched the Korean version of this and it's really ridiculous, they have to pretend they're actually dating/married. Either way, I know Liu wants to increase her popularity in China so it could help and he's a part of a popular Korean group so hopefully it will get subbed.
 
I think it's a good move, because:

(1) Korean culture is pretty big in China right now and Korean TV shows and stars have a large fan base;

(2) The TV channel the show will be aired on (JSTV) is one of the biggest in China and they have produced a lot of hit shows. In fact, one of the most famous shows that JSTV produced is about finding your significant other and that show has run for over five years and still going pretty strong;

(3) A very famous Chinese actress (Lin Xinru) will also be in the show and she is undoubtedly a household name and can draw attention to the show.

The other day I was thinking Liu needs to get on a hit reality show or date a serious celebrity to get people to know her...and it looks like it's going to happen. Bravo! :flower:
 
It's certainly a good move for her popularity then, so good for her ! Maybe it can draw attention to her for even bigger things in the future. I hope it will be fun and not too ridiculous.
 
It's kinda hard to describe the style of the show to non-Asian viewers. The show is obviously scripted but fans love the show for the interactions between the couples that are "married". It's a variety/entertainment type of show people like in both Korea and China.

Her exposure on this show in China could turn her into a household name. I've been into Hallyu thing for over 13 years and her "husband" Siwon is considered the all around package in terms of what fans love.

He's very famous in SK as a member of a boyband/actor. He's known being good looking, comes from an upper class family and steadily works in China/Korea.

They already started filming in Seoul doing their date and his fans are ninjas to showcase photos of them together. They look really cute together. I just worry a bit if his fans start being aggressive on social media towards her.

I think he's the lucky one to be paired up with her.

^So this "reality" show wouldn't be considered cheap or trashy like its American equivalents, right?

How popular is Liu in China currently? Is she close to being a household name or is she more of a minor celebrity at this point? I kind of wish she would branch out in the Western markets as well, but I guess the language is obviously a bit of an "issue".
 
I think she's pretty popular in Asia but only with people who are into fashion and modelling, the reality show will tap two markets she's never been part of before ; the KPOP market and the middle class Chinese household. It's probably gonna do more positive things for her so fans shouldn't worry. Asian series and reality shows are quite sweet and romantic rather than the trashy, wh*re-y stuff were used to seeing.

Quite a large influx of Chinese-version-Korean-reality-show in the market de facto...:unsure: hope she will do well anyway
