Liu deserves to have a global Chanel campaign. She's more talented than the white models representing the brand. I don't even think you can debate that the white girls at Chanel are more talented than Liu.

'Fall In Love With The Work You Do':
Chinese Supermodel Liu Wen On Making Your Career Last

More than 10 years ago, Liu Wen’s dream was to travel the world. Today, she’s the Chinese supermodel that conquered it.

Liu was the first Chinese model to walk the runway at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show; the first Chinese model to appear on the cover of American Vogue; and the first Asian spokesperson for beauty giant Estée Lauder.

She also added Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia honoree and Chanel's new beauty and fragrance ambassador to her list of accomplishments this year.

At 29, she’s a veteran of the industry and credits passion with keeping her going. It is something you immediately feel when meeting Liu: She wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. And that is the advice she offers for achieving longevity. “Fall in love with the work you do -- that is the best way to make everything last,” she says via email.

But Liu is the first to admit her storied career didn’t come easy. She started out “not knowing a thing” when she first moved from southern China to Beijing at 18 to pursue modeling, making it hard to find work. But she didn’t give up, often the difference-maker of any accomplished person.

“Persistence is a secret weapon for everyone. You'll encounter difficulties at any job, and the best way for me to get through them is via endurance,” says Liu.

She believed that success would come inevitably, and she was right.

Forbes estimates Liu banked $7 million in earnings last year, thanks to campaigns with the likes of Italian luxury lingerie brand La Perla and global activewear giant Puma, making her the 8th highest-paid model in the world. She is also one of the most-followed models on social media with more than 18 million followers on China’s Weibo and three million on Instagram.

But those are just quantitative ways of measuring success. There are others that arguably hold more weight, like the responsibility of being a role model. That’s something Liu takes seriously and doesn’t shy away from. “Being in this position enables myself and others to deliver messages of positivity -- we can broadcast to everyone just how beautiful this world is, and all the ways we can keep it beautiful by treating one another with kindness,” she says.

Note that both seasons were not distinguished; the bigger brands and mostly print campaigns were counted, not sure she has earnings elsewhere; and some of her jobs continued to the next season or had multiple campaigns for one brand in one season, etc.

If Liu doesn't get wings (especially with the show in China) I will be so mad. Her and Sui He deserve wings!
 
^ For the millionth time Liu Wen has to get a pair of wings, she hasn't got them yet. Hopefully she'll get them in China. (At the same time, if she's going to parade in a Chinese segment and has one outfit only, then maybe she won't... Just a hunch. Or perhaps she can get wings for that segment, but how would the wings look like for a Chinese segment anyway.) Mostly looking forward to wings and/or with a decent outfit.


Also, Sui got wings first in 2015 (Ice Angels) and 2016 (Mountain Romance). :flower:
